Operator-splitting methods are often used to solve complex differential equations because of necessity and improvement in efficiency. We can choose to split based on the various characteristic of the differential equations such as linearity and stiffness. We can choose to split differential equations into some number of parts. The choice of how to solve the sub-integrator also plays an important role in the choice of an operator splitting scheme. In this talk, we will discuss some strategies of how to find an appropriate splitting method based on these requirements.
